Senior Section forum

NEE Centenary Stuff

Has anyone heard what's going on in North East England for the Centenary?
I'm here during term-time, and I'm a Brownie Leader and lone SS member but I've heard much less (ie. nothing!) than I have from Scotland, my home region.
Can anyone enlighten me?

Is anyone else (how to put this politely?) between jobs right now?

I quit my job in February because it was a really abusive atmosphere. Sometimes I think it was a big mistake quitting as Im dependant on other people and doing nothing day in, day out isnt very good for my self esteem.

Im trying to keep my days filled with volunteering at Oxfam and with Guide stuff. Im trying to send out as many job applications as I can. Going for stuff like playworkers, library assistants, class room assistants. I even applied for a gardening job when nothing else was available.

Right now Im waiting to here from the Childrens Society for the perfect job. Im worried that my age will count against me though.

Anyone else in the same boat? Need advice, support and a pat on the back?

I made (renewed) my promise!

I had a fantastic day today for Thinking Day! I made my Senior Section Promise and then went and celebrated with a doughnut from krispy-kreme and bought a bear from the Build-A-Bear which I have named Agnes Olave BP!

I know this is rather sad since I'm 24! But it was actually a great day and I was well exicited to see the WAGGGS flag being flown on the top of the council house in Birmingham! The WOSM flag was up on the poles on the ground as was another WAGGGS flag but to see our flag being flown at the highest point was well.... just very cool! Someone on Birmingham council must love Guides!

When are we going to be able to read the January blogs. It is almost the end of Feb now and time for the February ones. I am sure everyone else wants to read them.
I can see Pippas but none of the others are they there and my computer is not working or have you just not put them up yet?

Centenary stuff

Dunno how many of you have noticed that on the pretty new shop all the centenary stuff is available.
Anyone bought anything yet/spent a fortune?
I'm now the proud owner of a sparkly buff (which is handily about to keep my hair out my way when I bake biccies for rangers later) a nice SS phone sock and the knitted scarf and bag (which are amazingly soft). Decided not to buy the badge because I think we may be giving them away at our launch party.

Just wondering when we'll get a new competition on the site? I think a monopoly board would be a good prize (the guides can win one on their site).
With a Newcastle and normal monopoly board in our house already I can't justify buying one but if I were to be able to win one...
